Yakult Indonesia Receives Award for Consistency of Yakult Ladies
PT. Yakult Indonesia Persada received the Dedicated Business Unit for Bicycle Culture award from Bike to Work Indonesia at the B2W Indonesia Awards 2021 ceremony on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the Ballroom Theater of the National Library, Jakarta.
This award was received for the consistency of Yakult Indonesia, particularly the Yakult Lady staff, who still use bicycles to deliver Yakult to customers.
The Chairman of Bike to Work Indonesia, Fahmi Saimima, said that the award to Yakult was given for their efforts in consistently promoting a cycling culture.
"Yakult dares to project the image brand-it to continue carrying out its sales program by cycling amid technological advancements and so on. This consistency is the reason we consider why Yakult was awarded the Business Unit Dedicated to Cycling Culture,” he said in an interview after the award ceremony.
Bike to Work is an association of enthusiasts who go to work using bicycles as transportation. Declared on August 27, 2005, at the Jakarta City Hall, Bike to Work is now spread across various cities in Indonesia.
This community is determined to continue promoting the use of bicycles as an alternative means of transportation, especially to support daily activities.
Meanwhile, the B2W Indonesia Awards 2021 is an appreciation event that honors individuals, communities, and institutions that consistently promote the cycling culture in Indonesia.
"We will never stop. Hopefully, Bike to Work can continue to make a positive contribution and foster understanding of the benefits of cycling culture. Hopefully next year this event will happen again, and even better," said Fahmi in his opening speech at the awards ceremony.
Various categories were announced at the awards attended by several important figures, especially regents, mayors, and governors.
The categories include Individuals Dedicated to Cycling Culture, Bicycle-Friendly Public Spaces, Bicycle-Friendly Buildings, and Bicycle-Friendly Cities as the main categories.
DKI Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya respectively won gold, silver, and bronze in the Bike-Friendly City award in the Metropolitan City category.
In addition to Yakult Indonesia through the cycling Yakult Ladies, there are the Westbike Messenger Service logistics service and the Straling Coffee Traders association, which received awards for Business Units Dedicated to Cycling Culture.
The Co-Founder of Bike to Work Indonesia, in his speech, expressed his gratitude to the business units that still rely on bicycles for their operations.
"I am very grateful and impressed with those who consistently use bicycles. I and Bike to Work hope that this effort with bicycles continues tirelessly, because the modern lifestyle is indeed about bicycles," said Toto, who is also the Vice President of the Indonesia Cycling Foundation (ICF).
"Bicycles are an environmentally friendly mode of transportation and make us happy," he added.
